Sustainably Conscious
Internationally recognized for its environmental practices, nobilia respects the importance of sustainability. Our company holds several top awards and certifications dedicated to best practices in quality, environment and energy – from being the first kitchen furniture manufacturer awarded the “Blue Angel” eco-label, to extensive materials testing in company-owned quality labs, to being part of the Climate Pact for the furniture industry since 2016. nobilia was awarded a bronze rating in 2023 from international rating agency EcoVadis in recognition of our comprehensive efforts in support of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
When it comes to sustainability, we consider every phase in the life cycle of a kitchen: from the forest where the wood is sourced and the machines used to produce the kitchen, to our delivery process.
Some important commitments:
We support sustainable forestry which means a new tree is planted for every tree felled, with a certificate recognizing our efforts from PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes).
We “think global, act local,” which means 80% of our suppliers are based in Germany, and 50% have operations within a 50 km radius of our Verl site.
Our wood waste heats our production facilities and administrative offices in Verl, which is over 400,000 m² of covered space or building area.
Approximately 40% of the material used for our composite wood is recycled.
